About Us

“Never do for others what they can do for themselves.”–The Iron Rule
Founded in 2004, OneLA is the largest and most diverse broad-based organizing effort in Los Angeles County. We teach the practical skills of public engagement to everyday people through their congregations, schools, unions and nonprofits. As a result, we strengthen our 65 affiliated community institutions, which are vital to creating and sustaining a vibrant democratic culture in Los Angeles County. We work across cultural, geographic and socioeconomic boundaries to build the power necessary to effect change around issues that matter most to our families.
OneLA is affiliated with the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) --the oldest and largest organizing network in the United States. The IAF has been active in Los Angeles since the 1970s.
