Accomplishments

In 2011, OneLA successfully:
· Created the L.A. Mortgage Modification Program, using up to $10 million in federal funds to demonstrate that meaningful principal reduction strategies can save homes and communities.
· Assisted more than 500 families to receive permanent modifications to stay in their homes.
· Partnered with L.A. County Dept. of Health Services to improve patient access and services at County clinics.
· Launched the Small Business Task Force to address the rising cost of health insurance and the implementation of healthcare reform in California.
· Expanded the pioneering Algebra Project to four high schools to provide quality math education to students who would otherwise fail high school math.
· Helped formulate strategy that led to the passage of the “School Stabilization and Empowerment Initiative,” shifting the authority to allocate resources and implement programs from the centralized LAUSD bureaucracy to local schools.
· Trained more than 500 Angelenos to organize their communities through one-on-one conversations and research meetings that led to concerted and constructive public actions.
